From My San Antonio:
Local nonprofits have partnered with Trinity University to help college applicants navigate the process.
Generation TX San Antonio, the San Antonio Education Partnership and Advise TX plan to rally more than 40 high school counselors to help students and their families fill out college applications from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19. The free event, called Apply SA, will be held at Trinity’s Fiesta Room.
Students will have more than 30 computers at their disposal along with help writing essays and gathering information needed to complete admissions forms and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, said Generation TX San Antonio spokeswoman Rosa Gomez.
Students: Please be sure to visit the You Can Go site from the nice people at College Board. This interactive site is FULL of information on making college accessible for EVERYONE - it’s organized around videos featuring interviews with students discussing their main concerns and obstacles. By using documentary-style video interviews as core content, student visitors could get authentic information directly from their peers who are now on the path to success. Colorful infographics and custom-drawn type bring life to valuable information about financial aid, courses, careers, and the different paths that led these students to college. Additionally, an interactive quiz lets students vividly see and influence the number of college opportunities available to them. Check it out!
